Dubber Dub Dub

Scouse Bouys Dub Bmx do things the right way! They Love good quality reggae and Notorious BIG, and in my book, that makes them fine specimens!

Scot ditchburn has been spotted on several occasions reppin Savakas stickers on his sted...and i proudly display rasta colored Dub stickers on my lid...in the words of Bob Marley "Africa Unite"...although we are in shitty England, so it more like "Shitty Essex and Grotty North unite" or something like that...fk it im going to get a coffee.

Savakas Is The Reason

This i crazy...i found this pic from an early issue of Invert magazine the other day. It was seeing this photograph, and being lent 'Ride On' that changed everything. Me and a close friend used to build crazy obstacle courses on my drive, and shred the shit out of them on our Stylers. After seeing the picture and that video, suddenly i realised we could build our own jumps...i never looked back! Funniest thing is this is an article aout how to build jumps out of concrete!

Real Men go to work on an Egg!!!

Out on me ol' ratty bike 5.30am weird thought go through your head! I thought about some of the most amazing comebacks in sport etc here are two...pretty inspirationally stuff i hear ya callllllllll!

Obviously we kick the ball off with Mr Armstrong...you know the story, and if you dont, you should!
Muhammad Ali.

Many will no doubt be surprised to see Ali anywhere other than at the very top of this list. And it was hard not putting him there after his remarkable return to glory in 1974. Forced out of the sport he loved due to his religious beliefs, Ali came back in 1970 - some three and a half years after being stripped of his title in 1967 - and really set about shocking the world! Going into his fight with Big George Foreman in Zaire, Africa, hardMuhammad Ali.

Going into his fight with Big George Foreman in Zaire, Africa, hardly anyone gave him a chance at regaining his world title. Not against the all-conquering Foreman - the man who had annihilated the only two men to have ever beaten The Greatest! Both Joe Frazier and Ken Norton had been dispatched in two short rounds by George, yet the pair of them had beaten Ali. What chance did Muhammad have then, against such a destructive and murderous hitter? What everyone bore witness to in October of '74 was irrefutable proof of Ali's greatness. He surprised everyone by laying on the ropes and letting Foreman punch away at him. Such crazy looking tactics, as we all know today, actually had a method in them. The stamina shortcomings that George had were the factor Ali was gambling on and his risky approach paid off. He soaked up everything George could throw at him and then, in the eighth round, Ali moved from the ropes and with blinding speed combined with power and accuracy, let loose with a stunning combination. George hit the mat, was counted out, and Muhammad Ali was back where he belonged!

Influences

As we are not "en Vogue", and dont upload web edits every second, i think it best to post uter bullshit instead, you might learn something, you might already know or you might not give a shit...i dont care.

David Bowie:

A cliche in this day od age, but the first person that i really admired. My brother and his mates would beat the shit out of me because i had bowie records when i was six, they would try and make me love Acid house and early rave and i would say fuck you Bowie kills it!

Christian Hosoi/Gator:

I just didnt understand it when people started doing presure flips and shit like that, i just wanted to wear vision and do airs!

Josh Stricker:

There was alot of Bmxers who i admired when i was young, but Stricker in things like Soil and especially in a weird allied advert, just had this very arkward amzing style that summed up BMX to me.

George Orwell:http://yeshua.ws/ridetrails/sandm/images/jsturndn.jpg

Theres alot of writers who i used to love, and i could almost of said Bukowski, but Orwell has something no ther writer had for me. I felt like he must of new me haha...how anyone can be that descriptive without any pretence or wastage of words/Vocabalary Wanking is beyound me!

Marco Van Basten:

When he played for Holland and AC Milan, he had all the classic form and subltuties, mixed with a flair and power unmatched in Bladder Booting.http://www.rankopedia.com/CandidatePix/5031.gif

Dodge It!

It's come to my attention the sheer amount of dodgy stuff out there at the moment, in fact this is something I have always realised, rather just been reminded of it lately. Not just specific to BMX...

There are an amazing amount of very interesting, funny, informative, grassroot blogs on the web, with wide and varied content. There are people out there taking photos, filming videos, riding, playing music, writing blogs/websites, even putting out magazines, all for the right reasons with brilliant results...but where is the equivalent when it comes to apparel?(Obviously there are a few)

Its not rocket science...It costs a lot of money to produce interesting, practical and original clothing, and many people would rather throw money at massive corps such as Topman and American Apparel, or carbon copy/boring brands.

In no way am I saying Savakas is something special, or every idea of ours is not inspired by our interests, or that we hand make every garment; but our aims, ideologies and interests are genuine, and hopefully when things progress, we can offer even more to YOU!

As i was writing this, i came across this (below), oh well...if we've accidently ripped anyone, at least its something worthwhile! Might have to work on my frontside flip and start a band called 'The Goat'! Fk it...how many bands would of existed without The Velvet Underground?
