Benson On Defgrip

Benson's got a really interesting Autophoto over on Defgrip, go have a look...

http://blog.defgrip.net/2010/09/autophoto-daniel-benson/

Everybody on the team continue to blow my head off with talents other than bike riding, and this is just a reminder of this fact. Bensons photos, Tom and Robs music, James' design, Seans painting, the list goes on...

Unrelated

Recently had the pleasure of watching both the new Cult DVD, and "This Is United".

I'm not going to go into some in-depth review, I'm sure you've already seen them; and, either been blown away by the efforts on both accounts, or gone to whine like a bitch on the Internet, whilst in the belief that the entire world started in 2008, revolves around you, and the 'Vader footjam' is the pinnacle of human existence! If you fit into the later category, get off here now or i will come out in a rash.

Anyway, other than almost every section on the united DVD being fkin immense, Nathan Williams seems to have produced the most thorough, groundbreaking section i have seen in so long! Along with one classic 'Nugget', and a song by one of the best bands of recent years...pretty much seals the deal! Go get some of that action people!

The Cult DVD is a belter to, but what stood out more than anything was this page of the 'zine' that comes with it. Big Up Cult.

Totally unrelated...Reggae seems to be a genre of music that really splits people, bit of a love or hate situation, much like Marmite, although i think Marmite is just ok...so that throws that theory out the window really! Anyway, if your new to Reggae, this is a fkin good place to start...

Just a quick one chrubs, but, if bmx is fairly new to you, as the in the last 10 years,
i highly advice you look at this site, go to the companies section maybe, and learn some sweet shit!

This is completely un-Savakas related, but this is a pretty dope little vid. Might not be your cup of tea if your anally trails, but it has a really rootsy bmx feel to it...Really reminds me of sections from an old ECD vid.

Benson

Nice pic of Benson in the latest issue of Ride UK. FIT trip to Helsinki!

Grape Vine

Just a quick one, because its busy as hell as the Savakas Camp, and we all know 'you snooze you loose', so there's shit to be done!
The trails have been coming along nicely, good session on the weekend had by all, just like the good ol' days. Tom Blyth the traveling man, had just got back from Iceland, pretty sure Benson went there recently as well, what is it with Iceland??? I want some geyser action Geezer!

Hopefully Tom wont kill me for steeling this pic of him, it was just to good to pass up, he said he had it shot to coincide with the first episode of the Tv drama "This Is England"!(That was a complete lie, i actually get worried about the stuff people write/believe on the web nowdays!) It was actually shot by Jeff Allen out in Boston on one of Tom's trips this summer.

There will be two new team pages up on the "slightly under par, soon to be rebuilt website" of ours...sneak peek!!!

Comical conversations of the week have mainly been based around recent posts on 'The Come Up" regarding Savakas, and sponsor me tapes from extreme scooter fanatics!(That might not be completely true, but its fairly close!)

'Hard To Forget" shirt will be with you by the time you have forgotten you just read this. I do hope some company out in Kazakhstan hasn't done something similar, i wouldn't want to be 'Biting' someone else's shit without knowing.

After listening to the following cd's(gives me a break from my integrity obsession)...i will crack on...peace to you all!

Cool post over on the Deluxe Site...

Hawaii

Curley really is an extraordinary character!

Other than being a sickhead on a skateboard, he's a great artist, and a bit of a fruit cake to boot! He's always had some involvement in the Savakas project. He decided he wanted to get away from this backwards village, and travel the world! After slaving away in a local shop for way to long, he saved up enough money for his journey. Heres an exert from his travels!!!

"Hawaii was one of the stops on my world trip i was most looking forward to, but after landing in waikiki (which is exactly the same as great yarmouth, with a bit more sun and a shit load more hookers) i was devastated, not what i had pictured at all. i spent the next month or so traveling around a few different islands searching for the Hawaii i had imagined and although i came close i never really found it.

This was when i heard of the kalalau trail, i managed to get some vague details off someone in a hostel, then when i typed it into google and the first thing that came up was 'top ten most dangerous hikes in the world' i decided it was time to go buy some tarpalling, some string and a ticket to the island of kuai!

These pictures are just a few of what i found, which was the hawaii i had first imagined on the plane here, it was an incredible week, it was hard, by myself, eleven miles each way, on steep mountain terrain with a path that half a foot wide with a two hundred foot drop next to it, but id do it again in an instant! anyways enjoy, peace, curly!"

Korea

More team news, Shoji recently sent over some pics from a recent trip to Korea!!! Sounds like a fairly loose affair with a fait amount of toxic sauce in Consumption! It didn't seem to effect Shoji to much, looks like he took the win!

In unrelated news, we have been digging a shit load the last few weeks and have a couple of sweet lines running. This spot has sentimental value, because it was our first ever set of trails, started well over 15 years ago!!! We had a serious amount of jumps there at one point, but they were leveled by the council. Cool to have a little something running up there again!

A little shindig going down tomorrow if your local...bring a boombox, some belting music, a few beers and come get involved.

Peace From The East

Vocal Test

Slight lack of riding the last few days, things have gone a bit mental at the Sav base...enough projects to sink a ship, digging like troopers for a little jam this sunday at the trails, and shit is selling out fast! I don't think we have ever sold as much as today...a benchmark that is boss! Loads of new products about to drop when the temperature does, so keep ya beedy ones peeled!

We have just got a very special/limited edition prints in...Girls Gypsy shirts, bags, canvas's, and the new "Hard To Forget" shirt...get involved fine people!

Lots of interviews etc coming up on the net and in print, this ship is definitely rocking.

Man over board!!!

Recently, both James Brooks and Louie Mire hit the deck pretty hard!

Louie broke his foot from and opposite twist got a little bit to loose, and Brooks took and hefty one at the trails...thank fk for head protection that's what i say! Get better soon brothers!

There's no sound...

so listen to this...

You wanted bikes?

Pretty dope stuff found whilst moving.

One of the best bands to relax to.

If you ever want a reality check, go to your local race track and watch how fkin good the average 11 year old is.

Sepultura, my favourite percussion in the world of heavy shit.

If you ever want a reality check, and you write, just listen to Leonard Cohen lyrics

"You Do You. Let everyone else be themselves and you worry about your own shit." Chet Childress

Final:

Team News

Theres been a few new additions to the collective over the last couple of weeks, heres a nice pic of one of our new team riders, James Brooks.

More team news on the way...

02/09/2010

In news that probably means nothing to you, Steptoe, OG Savakas brother rum drinking Essex layabout is getting the hell out of clacton(see mods/rockers riots) to move to Brighton...Best of luck to him and his liver.

Louie, who is, i hasten to add, a cross between Jamie T and some reptile bike killing don't give a fk very pleasant Englishman, has just broke his foot, so get better soon wee man!

Corrine Day has died.

So many projects at the Savakas Camp i think my head is going to explode! Colabs, designs, products...boom boom!

Taking a liking to old metal real bad right now, it always been in the ol' collection, but this is horrendous...im gonna be drinking half pints of cider with a megadeath shirt, local boozer at 12.00pm talkin about the deteriorating quality of spandex!
